Description

EDIT: I fixed up his blurb a little. I like it a bit better now.

This took me. Freakin. Forever. I hope I didn't forget anything. And I did I'm fixing it later. BECAUSE I'M TIRED.

It's my entry for :iconheliosconference:. It looks pretty fun and I need digital art practice. AND I love Oren. So it works totally.

SO! Here is my blurb. For Oren. AND ALL HIS POKEMON. Yeah, I'm awesome.

OREN
-----
Age: 20
DoB: 02-19
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 175 LBS
Hometown: Pewter City, Kanto

Personality
Oren is, for the most part, a good guy. He’s shy, sort of awkward, and isn’t always the bravest in tough situations. But when push comes to shove, you can count on Oren to step up and do the right thing.

Though his shyness tends to hinder any expression of affection, Oren is rather caring- this can be seen principally in how he deals with his Pokemon. He’s patient and encouraging, and careful about how much he pushes his party members.

Despite his sort of awkward anxiety, Oren knows how to take it easy. He enjoys napping and snacking on the road. So needless to say he’s well rested.

History
As a young boy in Kanto, Oren was fascinated with Pokemon. He watched every TV program imaginable about Pokemon and their trainers, and idolized Gym Leaders, particularly the leader of his home town, Brock. Once he was finally old enough, Oren embarked on a journey to defeat as many Indigo League gym leaders as he could and then the Pokemon Master. As a trainer, he showed much skill, and even gained some level of popularity among local Pokemon enthusiasts. However, due to a battle that resulted in the death of his beloved Arcanine, Neela, Oren retired from competitive Pokemon battling. He was one badge short of the Pokemon League entry requirement.

For the next few years, Oren spent his time wandering around Kanto and Johto with his retired Pokemon team. He just happened to be passing through Goldenrod when he heard about the Helios Conference. Encouraged by his mother (who frequently checks on him via phone) to chase his dream once more, Oren decided to enter. Hopefully, despite a long hiatus, Oren has not lost his touch and will get a second chance at becoming a Pokemon Master.

TEAM
-----

Canache (Arcanine)
Canache has travled with Oren for most of his life. Oren captured him when he was very small, and raised him along with Neela, another Arcanine his age. As they grew, Oren decided to enter the two in doubles tournaments under the team name The Sun Dogs. Together, they dominated the competition; Neela keep the opponents on their toes with lighting quick physical attacks, while Canache rained down on them with powerful special attacks. However, their success as a team came to an end when Neela was tragically killed. Canache was devastated, and refused to come out of his pokeball for months.

Since then, Canache has become reserved and gruff. He is often grumpy and does not like to play with his teammates during downtime; instead, he spends much his time outside the pokeball sleeping in the sunshine. The only party member he seems to be remotely friendly to (besides Oren) is Sunny the Furret. He even lets the little guy sleep burrowed in his mane.

Sunny (Furret)
Sunny is the newest addition to Oren’s team. He joined the crew when Oren arrived in Johto. Though Oren trained him lightly over the years, Sunny has never really battled in a competition before. Despite this, he is anything but afraid. He’s a gutsy guy, happy and full of energy, never easily intimidated.

On a side note, Sunny is impeccably small for a Furret. He’s quite short; most Furrets are around 5 feet from tail to nose, while Sunny is only stretches to about 3. But where he lacks in size, Sunny makes up in gumption. He’s lighting quick and willing to work as hard as he must to succeed.

Tortuga (Blastoise)

Tortuga was Oren’s starter pokemon, so, needless to say he is quite close with Oren. Whenever the young man seems blue or upset, if Tortuga is around, chances are he’ll try to cheer his trainer up. He is a rather jolly fellow who enjoys eating and playing tricks on most anyone (which is sometimes made extra comical by his conspicuous size and attempts to be stealthy).

When it’s time to battle, however, Tortuga is anything but playful. He’s not afraid to give it his all, no matter the competition, and is quite stubborn when he has it in his mind to win. That being said, Tortuga is a wonderful sport, and has been known for trying to make friends with opponent’s pokemon outside of battle.

Nan (Nidoqueen)
Unlike Tortuga, Nan harbors a particular disdain for any and all opponents she faces. She’s extremely competitive, and tends to fume for a while after a loss. Despite her tough exterior, Nan is actually a big, loving marshmallow in the inside. She’s cocky and brash, but loves her fellow teammates and trainer with the same ferocity she shows in battle. She’s extremely protective and will do anything to keep her family safe.

Sparrowhawk (Fearow)

Sparrowhawk is what you’d call the eccentric in the group. Oren thinks he was maybe struck by lightning when he was young. He’s not mean or unruly; in fact he enjoys being in the company of his team, playing and relaxing. He is, however, prone to mysterious fits where he flies off into a tree and squawks or hides for an hour or two.

In battle, he’s also been known to go a little bit berserk and, on a very rare occasion, completely ignore Oren’s orders. For this reason, Sparrowhawk does not see frequent action. Oren claims to keep him around strictly for transportation purposes, be he's really secretly amused by the Fearow's outbursts.

Let it be known, though, that Sparrowhawk is not a pushover. If he ever does battle, he becomes a near force of nature. He fights with a ferocity not seen in many pokemon, and that proves itself valuable from time to time.

Jakt (Scizor)

Jakt is by far the least social of the group. He has a business-like relationship with everyone on the team, including Oren. If called out the battle, he fights hard, does what he has to do, then returns to his solitude. Jakt can be described as cool and calculated, and maybe a little too stiff for his own good.

Ironically, outside the battle field he's rather easily flustered and shy. Oren tried to get him to open up while he was on hiatus, but he’s remained unsuccessful. Hopefully, with the hiatus at an end, Jakt will grow closer to his teammates.

oh god I need a life. haha. Can you tell I miss RPing? I miss RPing.
